Coqui | Wild & Woolly
ABV: 6.6%
IBU: 17
Style: Sour - Ale
Actively Produced
Description: Brewed for the Hopstock 2015 festival, Coqui is a fresh/wet/green hopped sour ale. Kettle soured with Lactobacillus, it's not intensely bitter. But after the short boil, we used a hefty quantity of fresh Motueka hops in the hopback. Like its namesake, which are very small, very noisy frogs, Coqui is an attention-getter. The beer begins with a fairly soft nose of hops and some sour-beer funk. But then the flavour really grabs your attention. Big tropical fruit on the palette finishes sharp, dry and sour. An unusual style for a fresh hopped beer, but a fun one!
