Description: The “joy plant” was what the Sumerians called the poppy flower, dating back as far as 3,400 BC before passing it on to the Assyrians who then passed it on to the Egyptians. Now we are passing Hul Gil on to you in the form of this Imperial Golden Ale with poppy seeds and lemon. Aged for a year in bourbon barrels, it has taken on the color of the oak char and characteristic oak flavors/aromas as well as a hint of spice from the poppy seeds and a faint touch of fresh lemon.
