Enchiridion (Batch 2) | Pure Project Brewing

ABV: 14.3%
Style: Stout - Imperial / Double
Actively Produced
Description: The second batch of Enchiridion, our blend of single, double, and triple bourbon barrel-aged stouts, is here… and it was well worth the wait. Inspired by the process of making Lief, our Méthode Traditionelle – 3 year blend, Enchiridion is similarly a blend of one-, two-, and three-year old beer. We wanted to try this blending process with a stout, but introduce something different along the way. Each year, the stouts that make up Enchiridion are placed into a new barrel for maximum barrel impact: tannin, bourbon character, and long-term mellowing of the stout. The single barrel portion was aged in 4-year-old Breckenridge; the double barrel was aged in Breckenridge, then 10-year-old Widow Jane barrels; and the triple barrel was aged in Breckenridge, then Blanton’s Mash #2, then Widow Jane. Altogether, character from six bourbon barrels went into this unique stout. A celebration of long-awaited bourbon complexity arises with aromas of crème brûlée, lightly toasted oak, and wildflower honey, while flavors of caramelized fig, melted milk chocolate, and cinnamon bark delight the taste buds.
