Big Train | Left Field Brewery
ABV: 6.1%
Style: IPA - New England / Hazy
Actively Produced
Description: Big Train is a juicy, hazy IPA with zero calculated bitterness and is named after Walter “The Big Train” Johnson, a gentle giant of a pitcher who left more zeroes in his opponents’ box score than any other. Rather than the traditional method of adding hops throughout the boil, a large dose of Mosaic and Azacca hops were added post-boil in a “hop stand” at 75°C to release loads of juicy guava, papaya and orange flavours without imparting any of the bitterness that you might expect from an IPA. A massive dry hop combined with a generous amount of oats and wheat in the grist make for a nice, stable haze.
