Many a celebrity used this service to get to Europe by air. The plane for this service was the Boeing 314 Clipper flying boat. American President Franklin D. Roosevelt used the same type of aircraft to get to Europe during WW2 and landed in Shediac; this was to become the first presidential aircraft – Air Force One – and was called Dixie Clipper.
