The Mesa No. 2 | Cismontane Brewing Co.
ABV: 6.0%
Style: American Wild Ale
Actively Produced
Description: The Mesa is a new school testament to the tradition of brewing beer with grapes. The first version of The Mesa was a blend of 25% Riesling and 75% Pilsner. (Be warned, if you look up reviews of this product, most of the articles are from the first offering that’s very different). This time around, they used a bit of Viognier to lighten the overall palate of the finished product and introduce the wine making tradition of blending different grapes. Collaboration with Mer Soleil Vineyard, Santa Margarita, CA. They age the hops to shift their aroma from pine notes towards more fruity tones- which balance the hop character and add a bit of funkiness. The process and technique of aging hops originates in Belgium and is common in many sour beers. The Mesa is all about finding an unbiased place were wine and beer becomes one. Just the right amount of flavor from each element to make something unique and delicious that’s 100% quaffable and doesn't swing too far to any one side.
