Description: At a public meeting in 1839 it was proposed that an Annual Regatta should be held on the Thames to attract visitors to Henley. The mayor got behind the scheme and the first Regatta was held on a single afternoon in July 1839. It proved so popular that it was extended several times upto its present 5 day programme. It now has 200 races of international standard and attracts thousands of visitors from around the world and has become a major part of the English social scene. Well done Mr. Mayor. Hops used are Admiral and Sovereign. July 2014 special.
