Storming of the Floridablanca | Cigar City Brewing®
ABV: 11.3%
IBU: 31
Style: Belgian Strong Dark Ale
Actively Produced
Description: After pillaging and plundering the Florida coast on his ship The Floridablanca, Tampa’s infamous pirate Jose Gaspar ran afoul of a pirate hunting schooner, the USS Enterprise, in 1821. The Floridablanca was stormed by the US Navy, signaling the end of the pirate ship and of the pirate himself. We brewed a strong dark ale with licorice root to commemorate his fall and aged it in rum barrels, the only vessel appropriate for a beer bearing the name of Tampa’s most beloved pirate ship.
